I’m so happy to be growing a little human again! This has been our first week back from Hawaii and it’s been an adjustment. Hazel has a hard time sleeping after travel and we get anxious for a few days, but we’re so happy to be home! We had a great time with family and Hazel got to experience something new.
Baby has been super active since we got home, the little nudges and wiggles you aren’t 100% sure are baby, have transitioned to full on kicks and rolls. We can feel him from the outside as well and it’s the most magical thing in the world. I adore being a baby cocoon and am enjoying and savoring every movement and moment.
Hazel has also gone through some growth, she’s clapping, crawling quickly, and using objects as an obstacle course. She’s also become the clingiest little in the world and I love it. One day she won’t be able to stand me smothering her with kisses and holding her 24/7 so I’m living it up while she loves it. She’s going to be one in less than a month and I cannot even believe it.
Due Date: October 28th
How far along: 17 weeks 6 days.
Size of baby: Turnip, 5 inches 5 ounces.
How many days to go: 156
Total weight gain/loss: I’ve lost 4lbs so far. Everyone gains and loses weight differently during pregnancy, I tend to gain at the end.
Maternity clothes: I wear my maternity shirts from last time, they’re cute and comfortable though not yet needed. I’m in my normal shorts and jeans.
Stretch marks: No new ones, just the load I got from Hazel! They are all white or silvery and faded now.
Sleep: I sleep great with my Snoogle pillow.
Best moment of this week: Playing with Hazel at the park. She is obsessed with other kids and wanted to play so bad, it was so sweet.
Leakage: No but I’m still occasionally breastfeeding.
Milestones: No second trimester morning sickness! Baby’s cartilage is turning to bone, umbilical cord is strengthening.
Weekly wisdom: Relax, enjoy your pregnancy. This only happens a few times in a woman’s life, even if they have one zillion children. Savor the moment and try not to focus on the harder parts of pregnancy.
Miss anything: No.
Movement: So much! Baby is very active and both mommy and daddy can feel him now. My placenta has been posterior throughout both pregnancies so I get to feel everything and feel it early.
Food cravings: No, not really. I can eat and cook pretty normally now. I’ve been making a few vegan meals a week and it feels amazing!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No I feel pretty amazing this time. No sickness unless in a bumpy car or something similar.
Have you started to show yet: Not really, sometimes it looks like it but it’s mostly bloat or organ smoosh. I also look like I’m showing because of my 3-4 finger gap diastasis recti from my pregnancy with Hazel. After this bun comes out I’m going to work on healing that. It makes my stomach always look like there’s a horizontal football in there :(. Worth it for my babes!
Gender: It’s a boy!!!!!! We now have one of each.
Labor signs: Nope too early for that business.
Belly button in or out: It’s weird from my diastasis recti from my pregnancy with Hazel. Half in half out I guess.
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!!!
