I’m overdue as predicted! Baby is taking her sweet time making her way into this world. She hasn’t even fully dropped (which she might not do prior to labor) and I’m only dilated at a 1 (according to my 39 week appointment) with my cervix still being pretty thick. I could just tell from the beginning this baby was going to be late. I was hoping I was wrong, as I did also think she was a boy, but unfortunately I was correct. Babies come in their own sweet time and yes I knew pregnancy was at least 40 weeks prior to becoming pregnant…but the last few weeks really are an endless torture. Alas, she’s Brian and I’s child, and we are both the lords of being stubborn. I want to hold her now please. My stomach does not want to hold her anymore, it’s begging for mercy. My midwives don’t induce labor unless requested or absolutely necessary (which I like) so I’m in it for as long as baby and I are still safe.
How far along? 39 & 40 Weeks.
Trimester? 3rd!!! Wooo final phase. I’m actually 40 weeks and 2 days today, so no days left, but she’s still cooking anyway!
Total weight gain/loss: So far I’ve gained 34 lbs. Belly measured 44 inches at the beginning of this week.
Baby size: Watermelon, 20.16 inches from head to toe, 7.5 – 7.72 lbs.
Maternity clothes? The maternity leggings from Motherhood and Target are heavenly. I just bought a few Pink Blush tops to wear during my transition back to a human body, I don’t need to be wearing tight tanks with a floppy shrinking uterus belly. They’re so cute. I love Pink Blush.
Stretch marks? Unfortunately genetics have won, I have developed stretchies and they have grown. I was really hoping to escape this fate and religiously greased myself up (and continue to grease) at least 4 times a day with many products, but alas, as I had previously read creams are nonsense. Genetics determine all. There’s no secret preventative tool, if you escape stretchie hell, you’re just genetically blessed (and I hate you lol).
Sleep: Sleep is the worst. There’s a giant baby in my belly and I’m supposed to sleep on my left side. When I go from sitting to laying on my left side, I feel her slide around and it feels really gross and uncomfortable. It’s hard to ever be comfortable, but I continue sleeping inclined surrounded by enormous pillows. I can’t wait to lie flat on my back and stomach again.
Best moment this week: Spending time with Brian, even when we don’t do anything. I like just absorbing his essence and enjoying the last few days of our life just revolving around us (we will still always make us priority number 1, babies are an amazing gift but we are each other’s forever).
Have you told family and friends: Yes! We announced on Christmas with a surprise reveal which was really fun.
Movement: Baby is very active for how large she has to be at this point. My midwife even commented on her activity at my 39 week appointment.
Food cravings: No cravings really. Food is just food. I haven’t liked it much since being pregnant.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just smells as usual, mostly Cashew’s fish whispers and the smell of human breath which I swear I can smell from a mile away.
Have you started to show yet: Hahahahahahaha. My belly is 44 inches around. That’s insanely huge.
Leakage: Yep pretty much every day a couple times, but only a little.
Gender prediction: We are having a lady, confirmed via anatomy scan at 18 weeks. We also did a Sneak Peek blood test at 10 weeks that said girl.
Labor Signs: Not really, just Braxton Hicks all the time. Still have my plug and all that good stuff. It’s really annoying at this point. Come out baby!
Belly Button in or out? I have a full flatty. My inny wasn’t super deep so it’s as “out” as it’s going to get.
Wedding rings on or off? Off, at the end of 34 weeks swelling started. It’s mild but enough that when combined with the humidity here, I just don’t like the feel of my ring anymore. I got an Amazon silicone ring, I don’t like wearing nothing.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I’m so happy but I do have weepy spells every few days.
Weekly Wisdom: Whatever happens just roll with it. You can’t control what goes on in your womb-sack so just be happy, calm, and hope for the best! If you go over your due date like I have, I’m sorry. It’s the worst.
Milestones: Passing baby’s due date. I knew we would! My guess is she’ll come the 16th, but it could be later (please don’t be later). My midwife told me women tend to go 10 days over with their first baby. I would prefer not to do that.
