For the days both leading up to and immediately following our wedding day Brian and I stayed in the most romantic hotel, Regent La Petite France. We checked in our luggage just prior to our hike to Chateau de Saint Ulrich in Ribeauvillé (more on that here). The hotel was modern, charming, and overlooked the Ill River, in the most picturesque portion of the metropolitan city of Strasbourg, La Petite France. La Petite France somehow (magic?) makes you feel like you’re in a remote country village. It’s beauty took our breath away and the rushing river was the perfect soundtrack to our stay. We left our windows open as often as possible.
The second day of our stay, after the best night of relaxation (hello disco jetted tub) we scheduled a couple’s session with our wedding photographer. We hadn’t met her in person yet, and we wanted more pictures than we’d get just on our wedding day (we didn’t do engagements and basically never take pictures) so it was the perfect opportunity to get comfortable and get some lovely photos. We warned our photographer beforehand that we are truly awkward and don’t take the best photos (no exaggeration) but somehow she captured some beautiful pictures anyway (wizard?). I’m so glad we did a session with her before our wedding day, it seriously made all the difference in the world. I definitely recommend doing the same, even if you’re eloping like we did. Some of the pictures ended up being our favorites.
Our itinerary for the session was really simple and relaxed. We met outside our hotel in front of the river in the late afternoon, walked to the Parc de l’Orangerie in Strasbourg, and walked back to our hotel through beautiful La Petite France snapping pics all the way.
I’m so happy to be able to share some of our favorite shots. Our photographer was amazing and we’d definitely recommend working with her! Details below.
